Laws

Does the U.S. government have the authority to decide not to enforce laws?

Time for a prediction

You heard it here first.

If you have noticed, Obama seems to be uninterested in being popular enough to be elected to a second term.   Either he just doesn't get it, or perhaps he has his sights set higher (at least in his own mind) an want to be the next Secretary General of the U.S..

After all, many have said Obama's goals seem very European.   He also seems to give more credence to world opinion than to U.S. opinion.   And, we all know he delights in the big stage and all the attention it brings.

If this does come true what should the U.S. do?

  • First -- kick the UN our of our country.
  • Second -- resign all involvement with the UN.
  • Third -- stop all foreign aid to countries that choose to remain affiliated with the UN.
  • Fourth -- Start a competing alliance of countries that supports freedom and mutual interests.   This alliance shall be only for countries that have common ideals.
Do I hope this comes true?   Not all of it.   I certainly don't want Obama to have a stage to become a world community organizer.   He is so naive, it would be child's play for some despot to manipulate him.

A lesson learned

What did the Chilean miners do when they found they were buried?   They decided not to dig deeper.

Why can't Obama learn the same lesson!

Time to step up

It is near the time that we all must step up to stop the madness that is looming on the horizon.   Too many people did not take the time to properly look at the candidates 2 years ago.

Few realized the speed at which the foundations of our country would be attacked, not with weapons of the physical world, but with ideas so malicious that their intent cannot be misinterpreted.

Obama's goal is to lower us all to the level of the Europeans who are content with being average and controlled.

Think carefully.

Is Obama a Muslim?

Ponder this!

  • According to most interpretations of Sharia law, leaving Islam is equal to treason and is punishable by death.
  • According to Islam, if you are the child of a Muslim man, you are Muslim.
  • Obama by claiming to be a Christian has pronounced his own death sentence in the eyes of many in the Muslim world.
Now, how much does the Muslim world trust Obama?

Guaranteed Arizona Cardinals Vicory

Step 1.   Rename them the Arizona Illegals

Step 2.   Play ball.   Nothing more is required.

  • The refs will be afraid to throw a penalty flag in fear of being called racist.
  • You can have an many players on the field as you want.
  • No need to hire English language translators.   No one speaks English anyway.
  • No one will keep score so no one can loose.
  • The football will no longer be called a 'pigskin' just in case some of the illegals are not Hispanic (read Middle Eastern).
  • The team owners will have a lower payroll because no taxes are paid.
Feel free to add your own bullets as a comment.

What has happened to our drive to be exceptional?

It seems some Americans have lost the drive to be exceptional and are satisfied to be merely European.

The importance of the 2nd Amendment

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Keep in mind that the definition of 'militia' is "An army composed of ordinary citizens rather than professional soldiers."   By it's very definition, militia cannot be interpreted as a branch of the U.S. military, even the National Guard.  National Guardsmen are paid for their services.   If you are paid for your services, regardless of what they are, you are a professional.

Let's take a look at some of the views of significant persons in our history and their views related to the 2nd amendment and our right to bear arms.

GEORGE WASHINGTON
  • "Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people's liberty teeth keystone... the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable... more than 99% of them by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference. When firearms go, all goes, we need them every hour." (Address to 1st session of Congress)

    THOMAS JEFFERSON
    • "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."
    • "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

      JOHN ADAMS
      • "Arms in the hands of citizens (may) be used at individual discretion...in private self-defense..."

        JAMES MADISON
        • "Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation.. (where) ..the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."

          BEN FRANKLIN
          • "Those who would give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

            NOAH WEBSTER
            • "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed...."

This is only a very small number of the relevant quotations from our historical leaders with regard to the 2nd Amendment and the right to bear arms.   Search them out and have fun.

Have a wonderful Independence Day.   Be sure you thank those who have preserved it for you.

Let us hear it for the liberal media and their attempt to revise history

I was very disappointed with the wording of the headline in the June 29 La Crosse Tribune “Supreme Court justices extend gun owner rights nationwide”.

The word ‘extend’ according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary means to increase the scope, meaning, or application of.   The headline implies that the Supreme Court has increased the rights of gun owners.

The Supreme Court merely confirmed that the 2nd amendment really does mean that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.   The gun ban in Chicago was certainly an infringement of our right as a U.S. citizen.

Also, we should all remember that the purpose of the Bill of Rights is to tell the government what it cannot do.

              How opinions are formed

A conservative forms their opinions on facts.   If new facts are presented, a conservative will examine the new facts and if they warrant a change of opinion, will do so.

A liberal forms their opinions on emotions.   If new facts are presented, a liberal will not likely change their opinion because they are excessively invested in their emotions.

              Real Help

Can anyone tell me why liberals are so against helping those who really need help?

There is only so much money to go around and liberals are satisfied with diluting the funds that should go to those who need help by giving an equal amount to those to merely want help.   This means that those who really need the help to become self sufficient are held back.

I know it is hard work to determine who really needs the help, but if they don't want to do the hard work, then they should stay out of the game.

Maybe they are afraid that someone (or some group) will not like them or they are scared of being seen as insensitive?

              I don't get it!

              Lazy Christians

Last week I had the chance to talk to a guy carrying a sign stating that Jesus was a socialist.   I asked him why he thought Jesus was a socialist.   He said that Jesus taught that we should take care of one another.   He was using his understanding to explain to me why he thought Obama’s health care plan was a good thing.

I tried to explain to him that Jesus told us we should take care of one another, but it is a personal responsibility, not a corporate responsibility.   (If you don’t know the meaning of the word ‘corporate” used in this context, see a dictionary).

If Jesus would have intended taking care of one another being a corporate responsibility he would have instructed the Pharisees to raise the temple tax so they could take care of the poor.

Each of us has the personal responsibility to personally take care of one another.   To count on the government to do this is to be a lazy Christian.

              Handout

Not a lot has been written lately about the people who stand near intersections and ask for money.

I would like to congratulate them for having the courage to ask me directly for money instead of hiding behind a government that reaches into my back pocket to give my money away to those without enough courage to ask me for a handout.

              Where we are

We are all a product of the decisions, large and small, we have made in our life.

I am not trying to tell you that a poor person decided to be poor, but the accumulation of their decisions placed them in the situation in which they find themselves.

There are always options.   Perhaps they are not the options one wants to take or the decisions one wants to make, but there are always possibilities.

Sometimes the decision can be how you react to adversity.   Perhaps it is the decision to stay in a geographical are when you could move to another and make more money.   Perhaps you decide to stay close to family members.   Maybe you stay in a particular job because it is undemanding and you can spend more time with your immediate family.

These are only a few among the thousands of decisions that make us who we are.

Don't expect me to make up for your 'wants' when your decisions are in your way.

My e-mail to Wisconsin State Senator Dan Kapanke and Wisconsin State Rep Jennifer Shilling

Below is an e-mail I sent to my state senator and state representative in my home state of Wisconsin.   However, this could apply to almost any state.
              ******************
I have heard that these two anti-gun proposals were introduced in Madison late last week.    I have not been able to find out what happened last week, but I hope you both did not support these overly aggressive proposals.

I have reviewed some websites that are proponents of these proposals.   They are full of half truths and in some cases lies.

The WAVE website makes the statement.

"Under current law, anyone can get a gun in Wisconsin without undergoing a background check or even showing identification."

              --------------------------------------

If you really want to be outraged about something check out my modification of this statement.

Under current law, anyone can vote in Wisconsin without undergoing a background check or even showing identification.

If you want to make a significant difference, close the voting loophole.

The manhunt, concluded Wednesday, targeted "aliens with criminal records"

The title of this blog was taken from an article in the La Crosse Tribune.   "La Crosse Tribune

What struck me as interesting is that the article seems to forget that anyone who is in the U.S. illegally is a criminal, so the fact that they were looking for aliens with criminal records seems redundant.

We as a society need to realize that those who are in the U.S. illegally, while perhaps nice people as individuals, just cut in line ahead of those who are trying to live in the U.S. legally.   We should all be more concerned about helping those who are legally our neighbors rather than those who are criminals.

Is this a little harsh?   Perhaps, but it is true.

Good jobs and not so good jobs

If you think about it there are two types of jobs that are being counted as Obama "saved or created" jobs.

              They are;

              • Wealth creating
              • Wealth absorbing.
Wealth creating jobs are private sector jobs that make things people want to purchase. Wealth absorbing jobs are government jobs that are paid for by taking money in the form of taxes, fees, etc... from the wealth creating side of the equation.

Guess what types of jobs are being created by the Obama administration, for which he is very proud.   The wealth absorbing variety.

Unfortunately because the majority of jobs being created are governmental wealth absorbing, it is a net negative to a struggling economy.

This is just another example of high level governmental meddling that is making problems worse and unnecessarily delaying the recovery.

Today I heard Obama say that he offered an outstretched hand of bipartisanship to the Republicans only to be offered a fist in return.   The only thing he left out was that his outstretched had only had one digit extended.
